Post 3 is centred around the designs used within the app and web page. Mainly focusing on key areas such as the colour scheme and design.

The mood board I have developed features a range of of visual references, including images from several popular gaming events (Gamescom and Insomnia) , as well as screenshots from well-known games. The games displayed (Fortnite, Rocket League, and Minecraft Dungeons) were selected due to the visual styles and the popularity. The overall aesthetic of the mood board is vibrant, energetic and neon, which reflects the characteristics of a gaming event, and something I can portray for both the website and the companion app.

The selection of an appropriate colour palette was an important factor when in the design process for both website and the companion app. For the UI design, colour choices play a significant role not only in displaying a visual appeal but also creating a good user reaction. A poorly chosen palette can lead to a poor overall user experience.

My goal was to use a colour scheme that aligns with the environment of video games, avoiding bright or distracting schemes that could cause a negative impact on the usability. When researching colour trends in gaming-related events, I found that the most common colour patterns consist of blue, red, and purple. In my opinion, these colours were selected for their strong association with energy, competitiveness and excitement. Fitting in perfectly with the aesthetic of the event type.

My questionnaire used to understand what colour scheme the target audience expects in this type of design.

Gaining feedback from the target audience is essential to ensure that design decisions are to the expectations of the possible customers. Gathering input from the target audience allows for better answers and evaluation based on the design features, such as colour schemes and choices. To help gain feedback, I used a questionnaire, which had been sent to people of the target audience. The questionnaire was shared to friends and through various social media platforms, such as discord and reddit. This questionnaire was done before the design stages of my app and web page.

As I mentioned before, colours such as blue, red, and purple are frequently associated with video game culture and are used often in gaming related events and designs. The feedback gathered through users indicates that these colours provide an energetic and competitive feel to an event or topic. Ideas which I intend to portray with my event. However, darker shades such as black and grey gained the least votes overall. Suggesting that these colours are seen as less suitable for something such as a video game event. Gaining user feedback is important as it provides an insight into what the customer base expects when it comes to the UI design of the companion app and web page.
