Conceptually Designed Personal Logo

Design 1

When trying to create conceptual design within my name, I had written notes alongside simple drawings displaying me as a person including all things I enjoy within my day to day life. One area I had aimed to focus on was gaming, as this has been a feature within my life for as long as I can remember. To do this, I matched up characters that looked similar to letters in my name. I decided to implement Pac-man in my name in some variation, as this was one of the first games that I had discovered.

When using certain fonts, the “E” within my name is shaped into a crescent moon type shape, which gave me the perfect opportunity to create the shape of Pac-man. Using a range of new techniques, I gained the ability to mould the circle in the exact way in which I had noted down in my note book.

The outline of my name and Pac-man itself adds to the old game style effect, matching up with the idea as a whole. I believe I can make improvements to this design and this is by sculpting the Pac-man character is a different form, this is because some people may not understand the idea of that I have replaced the “E”. To do this, I will simply create the mouth area in a lower angle which may look just like a capitalised “E” instead of a lowercase.

For my second conceptual name design, I aimed to focus my work on another area of my life which has always inspired me to want to create design work. One of my big inspirations growing up was watching cartoons, and learning about all the designs that come with a show, such as the characters, backgrounds and items which may appear throughout the episodes.

When designing my work, I landed on a “SpongeBob” type scenario which in some situation can include my name in the piece, to do this I had attempted sketches all in a form which still portrays my idea, the design I landed on included SpongeBob blowing bubbles with gradually transitioned into my name. The bubble idea worked as I intended due to blowing bubbles being a large factor within the episodes.

This idea was originally a sketch I had created in my note back, designing the idea of the bubbles slowing transitioning into my name with the surrounding items and background also shown in the sketch. The character and background is not originally designed by me.
